Despacito the song of Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi with Daddy Yankee was released in the year 2017. It was the top streaming music of that period within the space of six months. In 2017, the single Despacito which was a mix of reggaeton and pop was not only a way to bring new attention to reggaeton music but also sparked interest in Latin music. In Billboard's Top 100 in 2015 had two songs that were mostly Spanish and 2016 saw four. At the peak of Despacito's popularity in 2017, however, 19 predominantly Spanish tracks made the top 100 as well, and by 2020 there were 41 such songs. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with a Spanish-language version in 2017 and soon after the most well-known artists began collaborating with reggaeton artists. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to produce MIA (2018) as well as Madonna collaborated on Medellin with Maluma (2019). In the year 2020, a handful of reggaeton stars were complaining about their genre's shift towards the mainstream. However, a younger generation of performers, including Rauw Alejandro was determined to ensure that reggaeton was evolving. Rauw Alejandro incorporated electronic dance forms as well as other styles into his music.
