She first made an appearance an actor in 1997 at age 13. [2] After taking several classes and doing background work for Canadian programs like Road to Avonlea and Harriet the Spy, she got her first role as a speaker in the Canadian children's horror series Goosebumps and Are you afraid of the Dark?, both series that aired on YTV. [2] After commercials and the guest-starring role on Mutant X, Prom Queen: The Marc Hall Story, Goosebumps, Twice in a Lifetime, Doc, Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye, Troubled Waters, The Dresden Files, along with a handful of Disney Channel original films (Mom's Afraid of a Date with a Vampire and Alley Cats Strike), aged 19, attending York University[12] in the faculties of Psychology and English,[1] Vandervoort was offered the lead role of Sadie Harrison in the CTV Teen drama Instant Star and was on air for four seasons. Vandervoort's first film, The Lookout, was launched in the year 2006. The film starred Jeff Daniels along with Matthew Goode and Isla Fischer. Vandervoort got a role in Smallville in a drama serial that airs on The CW. Her role in the show is that of Clark Kent's Kryptonian "Kara Kent" as the character that will eventually transform into Supergirl. Season 7, she was a series regular. She was featured in "Bloodline" which was the episode of season 8. Then, she returned for two more episodes during the 10th season, which was also the last of Smallville. Vandervoort produced the sequel of Into the Blue, titled Into the Blue 2 - The Reef. In the following, she directed an independently produced film titled The Jazzman, which also had Canadian performers Michael Ironside (who appeared in the second V miniseries and the 1984 V regular series) and Corey Sevier
